General Proofreading (n):

the final editorial process phase prior to publication

Things to Know:

  • For English texts, I  use the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition; APA Style Guide, 7th edition; and Merriam-Webster
    online dictionary as references.
*Based on the above, you can inform me should you have a specific style guide preference.

  • I  specialize in bilingual (Spanish, Spanglish,
Dominican Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese) texts.

  • Have a punctuation preference (e.g., em dashes instead of semicolons, etc.)  or a custom/in-house style guide you'd also like me to follow? Please let me know!

  • Revision rounds beyond the first pass/return are not included as part of any listed service. If additional passes are desired, the services is available for an additional fee (see below in Pricing & Turnaround).

  • Weekend jobs are welcome! Regular rates apply. Note that weekends are treated as one day instead of two with regard to turnaround. For example, a document submitted with the expectation of a 48-hour turnaround time on a Saturday would be delivered the following Monday instead of Sunday. If a weekend return is needed, a rush fee/rate will be charged accordingly.
*For weekend work (accelerated or otherwise), please inquire prior to sending your document, so that I can confirm my availability and accommodate your request!

  • Once a desire to collaborate and move forward has been confirmed, a slated/desired timeline and corresponding payment-delivery schedule will be established with the client.

For confirmed payment plans, a 25% deposit is required prior to work beginning on a project. Remaining payments (the number of which will be discussed and established with the client) in equal amounts of the remaining balance will be due on agreed upon delivery dates. Once a payment is received, the corresponding completed section will be delivered via email. Should payment not be received, work on the project will be suspended until such a time as payment is rendered.

If a payment plan is not desired, a 50% deposit is required prior to work beginning on a project, with the remaining balance due upon project completion prior to final delivery.

  • All major credit cards, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay, and ACH payments are accepted. Unless otherwise discussed and agreed upon, past-due invoices incur a 10% late fee, plus an additional 10% each month thereafter for the duration of nonpayment. Please note, I am unable to accept new work from clients with outstanding invoices.
